Massimo Massimi - Emersione

from Sonic Alchemy by Nucleo Musica Nova

/

about

“Emersione” wants to represent in some way the degrees of definition of different sound objects in a logic of transformation understood as emerging from a surface that is itself a sound object. Synthetic sound objects that take shape (precisely a labile form) are made through the use of physical models. The passage between defined and indefinite is the fulcrum around which the form is articulated and is exemplarily exposed in the contrast between the breath that gives rise to the composition and the series of percussive impulses that end it. The composition can be performed in stereo format or in a quadriphonic configuration with a double stereo that reverses right channel and left channel in the back.

Massimo Massimi is born in Rome in 1973 where he lives and works; he studied Renaissance Lute, Composition and Electronic Music. He's a composer who is interested in experimental research about relationship between musical instruments (included computer) and musical symbology with the conviction that musical spelling represents the current compositional request. Its electronic production is oriented to increasing the expressive resources of algorithmical synthesis in order to create specific virtual sounds in which to trace continuous elements of transformation, paying particular attention to temporal perception. Designs and produces musical instruments with recycled materials and non-conventional electro- acoustic diffusion systems.
